Qatari officials indicated that the missiles were successfully intercepted. Al Udeid is the largest US military base in the Middle East, established in 1996. The base spans 24 hectares (60 acres) and accommodates around 100 aircraft, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles. Hosting approximately 10,000 troops, it serves as a forward command centre for US Central Command (CENTCOM) and plays a central role in operations in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan.
