what's about your past
Daily writing prompt
Describe a decision you made in the past that helped you learn or grow.

Looking back on your past has a very powerful impact and will determine how you raise your children, how you relate to your spouse, the life opportunities you choose for yourself, your daily decisions, and even the activities you choose to participate in. Your past can determine life-changing events such as whether you will participate in a crime, whether you will join a gang, whether you will interact with family members or friends in a way that isolates you from them, your career choice, and your choice of partner.

Your past can affect every aspect of your life: your career choices, life decisions, partner, expectations of your partner, attitudes, emotional choices, and reactions to certain situations. You can never escape the past, especially in ways you cannot influence.

However, the way you interact with your past, the choices you make to positively help yourself and others overcome the negative consequences of their past, and the choices you make to address your past with qualified counselors or positive role models will impact not only yourself, but also your children, coworkers, spouse, and community for generations to come.

If you need counseling, I recommend Focus on the Family, an organization dedicated to seeing families and individuals grow.
